Lord Buddha lived before Christ and his theory of pacifism and non-violence was spread and united the Indian people from 5th Century BC. It is believed that Jesus Christ visited India and was much influenced by Buddhism. Buddhism is still one of the greatest religions shaping the lives of people in India and greater India. Ashoka the Great after the war of Kalinga embraced Buddhism and he became pacifist doing his best to spread it all over India. The Ashoka pillar is in the National flag of India. His giant image in Shravanabelagola in Karnataka is still celebrations of Buddhism and its pacifism in India.
